Oh wow - Erik Truffaz on the lead off track from his upcoming film related Blue Note album Rollin' dispenses with the ''clip clop'' motion of the original Michel Magne music for 60s comedy flick les tonton flingueurs (route de nuit) [''Crooks in Clover''] and injects an almost delta blues gutsy hard grappling feel to the piece, his signature generous Milesian trumpet flavoured coating smeared all over the groove the whole malarkey revved up with a wiry, dirty, swagggering, energy to the beat. On the album the clubber friendly Swiss/French star also zones in on classic films such as La Strada, L’Ascenseur Pour L’Echafaud, River of No Return and Le Casse. Erik Truffaz, photo: press
''New hat, new album,'' quips a still game Erik
