A flurry of releases is the order of the day in 2020 for the great alto saxophonist Tim Berne with plenty to satisfy long time fans - see here and here. And there's still more to come with his band Snakeoil set to release The Deceptive Four next month, a double disc live album the recordings dating back to 2009-2010 and 2017. Latest listening in these parts is Haven, a very pleasant surprise, pianist Sean Foran, known for his work with Trichotomy and Stuart McCallum, in an elegant new vocals and vibes flavoured project with singer Kristin Berardi, saxophonist Rafael Karlen and the great Luxembourg vibist Pascal Schumacher.
While the record, to be issued by the Australian label Earshift, is not out until November, singles have been appearing at regular intervals. Dreamjazz for sure and a positive new direction for Foran. Check out 'Ripple' ahead of the album's release.
