Bristol's Be-Bop Club, a Thursday night pub-jazz livener at the North Street establishment in Southville, hosts the Kevin Figes Quartet this week, the Adam Stokes Quartet next, and then, Release to the fore, Andy Hague's Double Standards on the first Thursday in October. Hard-gigging Nigel Price roadies in his ever biddable organ quartet the following week. There's no fear of missing out either for Henrik Jensen's Followed By Thirteen, who hit the spot in November. Beyond genre towards ''world music'' reminiscent perhaps of the approach of Nic Meier a little and also to the heart of the matter Anouar Brahem's wondrous Blue Maqams a few years ago with Dave Holland, Jack DeJohnette and Django Bates as points of intersection. Guitarists Erkin Cavus and Reentko Dirks delve into the momentous cityscape and culture of Istanbul touching on the tiny detail that is as magical as the effects of dopamine on the brain. Of an age before all of us were born east and west come together in some delicious harmony and a certain tristesse inspired by images of the photographer Ara Güler. It's all too beautiful. Out on Friday.
