After signing to Blue Note Records New York-based Chile-born saxophonist Melissa Aldana is to release in March the Lage Lund-produced tarot card-inspired 12 Stars (the title referencing the Empress' crown in tarot) with a band on the recording who comprise guitarist Lund, keyboardist Sullivan Fortner, bassist Pablo Menares and drummer Kush Abadey. 12 Stars features Aldana originals, some co-written with Lage, Aldana commenting via the label: ''I took the lockdown as an opportunity to learn more about myself through the process of learning tarot, whose focus is the journey of an individual. As I studied the cards, I started writing music about each of them, individually. And I found that the process described on the tarot is a process that we all deal with somehow throughout our journey here on earth.'' Aldana's touring coming up includes the Jazzahead expo in Germany at the end of April. 'Falling', with an absorbing feel that goes out after a while (Aldana navigating territory not unfamiliar to the approach of Joshua Redman) from the album is streaming.
