Solo acoustic bass that can be a universe all of its own, that's Rocket Love new from the former Vijay Iyer trio bassist Stephan Crump, an album which includes originals and standards such as 'Isfahan', 'It Never Entered My Mind,' Monk's 'Panonica' and a version of Stevie Wonder's 'Rocket Love' which lends the album its title. The album, New York-based Crump's first all-solo bass record, is out on the Papillon Sounds on 18 March. Photo of Stephan Crump: Craig Marsden
