Bathed in gnawa washing over the accessible mix of influences Electric Jalaba have El Hal: The Feeling out on 12 March. Singer and guimbri/krakeb player Simo Lagnawi, bassist Olly Keen, keys player Henry Keen, guitarist Nathaniel Keen, singer Barnaby Keen and drummer Dave De Rose form the band. Back in 2012 the EJs issued their first record Introducing Electric Jalaba followed three years later by Merhaba. This new album to be issued by Strut has a few tracks up heralding release that are definitely worth wrapping your ears around to jump up to speed before the whole album drops. The pick is easily the shimmeringly grooving 'Cubaili Ba' for its elastic energy and hurtling flow. A hot crossover prospect retaining strong multi-idiom spanning credibility no matter what specifically you are into of special appeal to world music, dance and jazz heads open to the bigger picture the sounds so far suggest.
