Acclaimed saxophonist, composer and bandleader Trish Clowes leading her My Iris band familiar from such albums as 2019's Ninety Degrees Gravity (Basho) is streaming tonight on International Women's Day from Ronnie Scott's. Clowes' style, oblique, a little reminiscent of Iain Ballamy, plays in a manner that can be prog-like in places and always pushes ahead displaying plenty of firepower and timbral resource complete with a careful command of contemporary jazz language that besides Ballamy also is reminiscent of some of Wayne Shorter’s methodology.
