From November's Boxed In bassist Daniel Casimir has come up with the goods big time here on 'Safe Part 3' one of a few tracks streaming so far ahead of the album's release. The bassist heard most recently at London's Jazz Cafe in Camilla George's band (our gig of the year to date) Casimir has a fine gathering of players with him on the album collectively including a lot of leaders (Nubya Garcia, Andy Davies, Moses Boyd superb on the track) among these. Hard bop, strings-soaked and cosmic in nature, horns doing call and response with the strings, the keyboardist Al Macsween has presence on the track and the jousting horns raise us up to new heights against DC's new statesman beat.
