The label was formed with music industry publisher Matt Smith of Metropolis Songs who have published Shabaka’s music. Musicians will record over three days at London's RAK studios including rehearsals.

Chelsea Carmichael (Seed Ensemble, Theon Cross), heard recently playing baritone saxophone with the Nu Civilisation Orchestra, is the first artist on Native Rebel. Carmichael's 'Myriad' has Carmichael on tenor sax plus Dave Okumu on guitar, Tom Herbert formerly of Polar Bear on bass, Edward Wakili-Hick (aka Eddie Hick) from Sons of Kemet on drums with Shabaka producing and is streaming.
