A storming new single with plenty of solo firepower here from Kamasi Washington on 'The Garden Path' just released, the saxophonist's first new music since 'Sun Kissed Child' last year. Brandon Coleman, Allakoi Peete, Cameron Graves, Ronald Bruner Jr., Miles Mosley are among Washington's fellow musicians on the track. Solo acoustic bass that can be a universe all of its own, that's Rocket Love new from the former Vijay Iyer trio bassist Stephan Crump, an album which includes originals and standards such as 'Isfahan', 'It Never Entered My Mind,' Monk's 'Panonica' and a version of Stevie Wonder's 'Rocket Love' which lends the album its title.
